Our Investments

While we do not invest in electoral campaigns or single-issue advocacy organizations, we build the connective framework that makes these efforts stronger and more effective. We specifically invest where we can have maximum impact in the areas of greatest need. We primarily make long-term investments in organizations in our core capacity areas:

Build a powerful network of organizations that are more effective together, sharing best practices and strategies.
Reach voters and decision makers with powerful stories, based on shared values that will change hearts and minds on the issues we care about .
Engage a growing, active base to build power and win.
Train a community of skilled leaders as the engine of our movement.
Understand our political landscape and what stands in the way of success.
Develop smart, high impact policies for strong communities, an economy built from the middle class out, a just society, and a better world for our children.

How We Invest

The Progress Alliance exists to win solutions that are truly at the scale of the problems we face. We envision a Washington State that is a healthy place to live with shared economic success and security, and a democracy that works for its people. Our unique niche is to build a permanent and powerful progressive movement supported by a network of committed donors. To this end we invest in organizations working within our six priority capacity areas.

We review investment proposals on an invitation-only basis from organizations that meet our criteria.

We fund:

  • Transformative impact in at least one of our six core capacity areas
  • 501(c)3 and 501(c)4 organizations as determined by the IRS
  • Primarily in Washington State

We do not fund:

  • Single-issue projects or organizations
  • Direct service organizations
  • Candidates running for office
