Seattle’s Most Powerful Leaders

Kamau Chege, executive director of Washington Community Alliance - a Progress Alliance grantee, was highlighted as one of nine of the most powerful people in Seattle by media outlet Axios Seattle. Skipping over obvious choices of high up government officials like the mayor or county executive, the Axios team chose to highlight leaders who have made an impact in their communities in 2022. From Kamau’s leadership on the DREAM Act, to running the most robust statewide Census outreach plan in our state’s history, to now leading an incredibly powerful non-profit — we couldn’t agree more on the power of his work.

Biggest moves of 2022: This year, Chege was a leader in the effort to put ranked-choice voting on Seattle's ballot — a measure that narrowly passed, changing the future of voting in the city.
