Announcing Our New Executive Director: Adrianne Moore

We have exciting news – Progress Alliance has hired Adrianne Moore as our new Executive Director!

You might already know Adrianne from her role as founder and co-director of Rural People’s Voice, a Progress Alliance partner organization that was founded in 2021. She also ran for the State Legislature in Washington’s deep red 12th District, and helped lead the Okanogan county-based service organization Room One for more than a decade.

Adrianne arrives to Progress Alliance with a wealth of experience: as a social worker and community organizer in North Central Washington; as a relationship builder and a powerful strategic player in Washington politics; as a fundraiser; and as someone with a deep commitment to racial justice. But more than anything, our search committee was blown away by her passion and clear vision for building multi-racial, cross-class people power in our state. Growing up poor and working class in rural parts of Washington, Adrianne understands what it takes to build a base of organized Washingtonians who can continue to win progressive policy victories and show the country what can be accomplished – even in these overwhelming and challenging political times.

We’re overjoyed that such a brilliant leader has chosen to make Progress Alliance her next chapter. And we can’t wait for all of you to get to know her better once she officially starts as Executive Director in mid-August.

Thank you to everyone who helped with the search, to our members who contributed feedback on the process, and especially to our current staff (Lisa Pubigee, Margot Spindola, and Robin Engle) who are holding it down during this huge transition.

Onward,

Burke and Holly

A Note from Adrianne

I’m thrilled to be joining the incredible staff, board, members, and partner organizations of Progress Alliance. As a longtime partner, I’ve experienced Progress Alliance as a compass for political organizing in Washington—offering clarity, direction, and steady leadership in uncharted times.

We are in the most urgent and high-stakes political landscape of my lifetime. While the urban core continues to deliver progressive wins for our state, our margins are narrowing and many of our rural, working-class communities are looking for relief from an economy that is failing them and moving further toward a politic that punches down on immigrants, LGBTQ folks, and other poor people. Far-right organizing and messaging is disciplined, pervasive, and relentless—it can feel like we’re shouting into a tidal wave. But there is hope–I’ve seen it from the frontlines. Last year, through the hard work of partners across the state, we pushed back together. Voters in counties like Okanogan, Pierce, Spokane, King, Yakima, and Grays Harbor came together to protect the Capital Gains Tax and the Climate Commitment Act. Even if they didn’t agree on who should be president, the vast majority agreed on this: it’s time to take on those at the very top who purposefully pit us against each other so they can rig the economy for their own gain.

In the work of building a progressive majority, we have two ways to build power: organized people and organized money. Progress Alliance sits at the intersection—strategically moving resources to the candidates, coalitions, and organizations that are building a multi-racial, working-class majority to win a future we can all count on. This work has never been more urgent or more promising. When we align policy, narrative, and elections behind a shared agenda that resonates across race and class—and fuel it with deep-pocket organizing—we can and will win.

I’ve had the privilege of working alongside many of you already, and I know this community is ready for what’s next. I’m honored to join you in this fight, and excited and hopeful for the work ahead.

In Solidarity,

Adrianne Moore
